Bus Service in our neighborhood

Thank you to neighbor Richard Hopkins for his research!

In January the City of Tallahassee adjusted StarMetro's schedules a bit; current schedules are posted at http://www.talgov.com/starmetro/routes.cfm

The T (Tall Timbers) bus runs east-west along Lafayette St. and Old St Augustine.  There are stops at Myers Park Drive, Seminole Dr., and Magnolia Dr. in our neighborhood. This bus runs every 35 minutes, all day long, from a little after 6 am to about 6:30 pm (in the evening the N3 bus runs a somewhat shorter but similar route).

To the east you can ride the T bus to the Koger Office Center and down Capital Circle to Southwood, including the Capital Circle Office Complex, Florida High, and the new Department of Revenue building. To the west the bus goes along Gaines Street and then Pensacola Street, passing just south of the Capitol, right past the Department of Education, across Railroad Ave., past Doak Campbell Stadium, and all the way to TCC. When I ride the bus home from Southwood, it takes less than 15 minutes including the walk from Lafayette St. down to Camellia.

The G (Gulf) bus runs generally north-south along Magnolia Drive. In our neighborhood it stops where Magnolia crosses Lafayette St, at the corner of Circle Drive, on Jim Lee Road just after it turns off of Magnolia, and then at Jim Lee and Orange Ave. It runs every 40 minutes. To the south it will take you to Rickards HS and the North Florida Fairgrounds. To the north it will take you to the medical complex at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, Midtown, the Senior Center, the Tallahassee Mall, and North Florida Christian School.

The stops on the G bus line are quite far apart: from Circle Drive to Jim Lee Road, and from the stop at the corner of Jim Lee to Orange Ave. are both about 3/4 of a mile, which is right at the upper limit of Star Metro's standards.

Note!

If you have been thinking about riding the G bus but the stops are too far apart, neighbor Richard Hopkins would like to hear from you.
